The other night my wife and I were Bass fishing at night about 2am. We were using black spinner baits with Uncle Josh black and red pork frogs. (Old School) She caught a very nice Largemouth. On the next cast she got hung on the bottom in about 15ft of water. I trolled over to try and retrieve the lure when it started to come up. To our surprise she pulled up a Diawa bait casting rod and reel. When we got home and scraped off some of the mussel shells and rock encrusted formations we found it was made from 1982-84. We have estimated it had been on the bottom of the river for 20-25 years. It's now is part of our trophy wall. (More Photos Available)

I did the same thing when I was a kid. then we discovered that there was a boat down there too.... Ours had not been down there quite so long, in fact it had only been there a day. The gentle man and his wife who owned the rod and the boat, was camping in the same camp ground as my father and I. We helped them retive the boat, well my father helped them anyways. I was only 6 at the time.

I did something very similar.  Only down there about 10 minutes and it was mine.  I hooked it when I cast another rod, and it threw it into the lake.  I then got my catfish rig and put and extra heavy weight at the bottom and after several  casts I managed to snag it and bring it up.  It was a Berkley Lightening Rod with a limited series Daiwa spinning reel.  I had the set about 2 weeks when it happened!
