Sometimes catching big bass comes by accident. I took my girlfriends son fishing a few years ago. It was in early spring, and after talking with a few fishermen at the local Marina, I decided to try useing Caralina rigged lizards. Well the only problem I was, Logan had never been fishing before. So most of my time was spent retrieving his hung up line from trees, rocks, shore grass, my life jacket, and etc.... To make matters worse we wasnt getting any bites when we was in the water. Out of Frustration, I tied Logan on a Plain white bass jig, set a bobber about four feet above it, and told him to cast into open water. My reason was simple, notyhing out there to hang up on, and I could get to figureing out what the bass were going to bite on. Selfish you say, Not entirely, but yes some what so. I wanted his first experience to be able to bring in some fish and spark that Anglers drive within him, and well it worked. his first cast with the jig landed him a 4 and a half pound largemouth. He did just like I said and slowly picked up the rod and lowered it, then reeled in the slack. about the second time he did this, the Bass hity, and from then on he was hooked on Bass fishing. I quickly tied a jig on myself, and we had a time casting out and catching many Bass that day...... Oncw we was done for the day on our fishing trip, i inspected the area, and there was a drop off we was casting over. the bass were along the edge of that drop off and we was drawing them out of the deeper water to strike our Jigs. Oh yeah, Logan caught more than I did, in fact, everytime we have gone fishing since he has caught more than I have, but that is the way it goes sometimes. He has since learned accuracy in his casting, and is an excelant Angler for fishing. Me and his mother are no longer together, but she and I remain friends and Logan gets to go fishing with me from time to time.
