My dad moved to florida due to his job, i haven't seen him or mom for a couple of years because i live in arizona and before being disabled i worked 6 day's a week . One day my dad send's me a round trip ticket to dunellon fla. Dad takes me fishing at a place called withalacoochie river it is supose to be the best bass fishing in the U.S. so he say's. we rent a 12 foot john boat and i drive the boat noticing all the alligator's on the bank , i begin wondering whose is fishing here us or the gator's for us. I get the boat stuck on a submerged log, i am totally stuck looking at the gators ! Finally dad get's us unstuck, we fish & i get a huge fish it jumps out of the water we get it to the boat and just before dad can get it in the boat it get's loose ! I was devastated it would have been my biggest fish Ever. I cast and bang i get another fish and just like the last one it get's loose too ! We didn't have steel leaders and they had teeth. finally i catch another one & dad gets the net on it just as it bites the line like the other two it was about 40 inches , they called it a chain pickrel. i caught one more & dad caught a bass and a huge cat fish. i started to stick my thumb in it's mouth & then i saw he had some big sharp teeth . my heart was beating so loud my dad swore he could hear it. we had a great time and i gave our four fish to a fellow who looked like he needed them more than we did, My dad and i laugh about those gators the stuck boat and a great fishing trip ,thank GOD for the memories. And unsticking the boat or it would have been our worse fishing trip instead of a really great one.
