So I was 6 years old, my father took me fishing on a local river (wapsipinicon, in eastern Iowa) and we tossed out our lines. Nothing fancy, just a hook and a worm. I was young and new to fishing so I was using a classic white/red bobber so i could tell if i had a bite or not. So im waiting and waiting wondering how long this is suppose to take. I quickly learned that fishing can sometimes be slow... and then BOOM, my bobber dives underwater, my rod is jolting up and down, Im excited, but still not sure what im supposed to do, and my dad yells, START REELING, so im reeling away and i know theres a fish on the hook and landed my first fish... i ask my dad "what kind of fish is that?" he said thats called a catfish... so we put it in the 5 gallon pale, and im done fishin for the day,,, i cant leave the bucket,,, i just loved looking at this slimy fish.. Im so proud of my first fish... So we get home and my dad is getting ready to clean the fish and realizes the fish only has 1 EYE!!! there wasnt even an eye socket or place for the eyeball to be... it was just smooth skin where there was suppose to be an eye. so i believe it was born without an eye because it didnt appear to be scarred or torn out... it was just smooth... we took a picture and that was it. After that i was eager to go fishing again!!! Thanks for reading...
