Still a bit cool and they are a bit sluggish but this one decided to show me, again this year, what the possibilities are for this small isolated lake (large pond really) in N central Iowa.

Thats a nice fish. My in laws live in Story City, and they said the snow just melted not long ago. It's nice to be able to get out and catch a fish that size early on. Congrats.

I'm thinking that us dedicated pond fishermen should exchange email addresses so that we can compare notes and swap stories and tips. Anyone else game? PM time. Tom

Sorry sharon but you need to read page 9 of the New York State fishing regulations.  It clearly states dec. 1 through fri. proceeding the 3rd sat. in June catch and release only, artificial lures only. It is legal to target bass you just have to throw them back.

It is true, the snow only recently melted away.  There were a few spots with some collection of snow, ditches mostly, that did not totally go away til only a week or two ago.

I do have a few favorite places, pond and lakes mostly.  It is unfortunate that it appears I will soon have to relocate.  I have only been up here since Dec 2008 and while life was pretty routinely busy before I did get the chance to fish fairly regularly wherever I was, Fl, GA.  I have not had the chance to hunt since mid 70s.  I took my first, second and third deer, first walleye, northern and pheasant while here.  Would like to take my first turkey and muskie before having to leave but only have a month or two left before I leave.  Trading emails sounds good to me, like keeping in touch with folks with similar interests.  avew@knology.net">davew@knology.net

I am originally from the finger lakes region of upstate NY so am familiar with some of the restrictions, who says I was 'targeting' that bass?, just happened to like the particular bait I was using.  Always catch and release in any event.  I do miss the beginning of trout season up there though.
