My father was fishing at the Des Plains river in Illinois and he was not really going to catch big fish. Well he had his son(my brother) with him(age7) and he had a hot dog for bait he just wanted to show him how to cast and what not. Well after he casted a few times he only let it sit for a few minutes, Well as he was reeling it back in he thought he was stuck on a stick or a log so he was slowly pulling it in. As he was bring it closer he realized that it was a Northern Pike! This guy was sick and had no fight. If you know about Des Plains river there are no pikes there it swam there threw little channels and had no food that is why he was so sick. Send your replies THANK YOU!

I was brought up on Hoosic River starts in Massachusetts, makes up part of Vermont/New York border and has most species for this region. I am always surprised thou as my nephew caught Walleye and that's one species i never knew the river had. i've seen 12" pike skinnier than a minnow. They love sucker roe.
