    I was able to do a little fishing in the streams in the area for all types of trout on my mid-tour leave. I have a 5/6 weight fly rod, (a cheapy walmart setup)and I want to get two more better quality rods/reels.
    I was thinking of a 4wt 8 1/2 ft. for the streams in the area. Any suggestions on what brand/type I should look at, keep in mind they don't pay us guys very much and I have a baby on the way, so about 150-200 for rod and reel if I can help it.
    I also want to get an 8 wt. 8 1/2 or 9 ft. for the steelhead run and maybe some cohoes. once again any suggestions on this would be worth it's weight in gold to me. same price range please.
    Also, if anybody has any ideas for a good get-away spots in the marquette area for fishing/camping an email, as that's a sensitive subject would be greatly appreciated.

    Not sure exactly what you are looking for but as another soldier who is new to the world of fly fishing. I was led to the Orvis website by a buddies dad. (he is a guide in Idaho) You can customize your set-up and the bottom of Orvis' line should run you about $200. Orvis' bottom line is way way better than a chain store brand. I also believe Orvis has a lifetime guaranty. I will lookinto it and try to get back.

    I love saint croix fly rods, have the perfect back bone and are light, very high quality for cost. they have 3 tiers of rods to fit different budgets and have a gauruntee for life as well. THis compnay is well known for its muskie rods, but they have really done good with these rods. Theya re also available from most large tackle stores, and if you want to order one they will Monogram it for free.
