Just wanted to let other club members know New York increased the non-resident annual license from $40.00 to $70.00. A nice 75 percent increase. So when you see New York fishing advertisments remember they see us only as a cash flow asset and don't care about the money sport fishermen bring to their economy. Life Member Mac

Could not agree more. As a proud resident of NY I am sorry this has happened! Our economy is in terrible shape and it seems no one is immune to it. It is a real shame to be honest. I lost my job last year due to economy issues and decided that life is to short and I am going to make the most of it. I have decided to go into the guiding business. Not the best time to do it becuase no one is spending let alone anyone from out of state coming to fish NY waters. On the flip side, our fishery has improved ten fold over the last 2 decades. I fish 4+days a week and it has been a ball. I am not looking to drum up business here, but my website has daily reports. I hope you will still consider our waters as fishing has been prime. goldenfishingguide.net is my site if you want to follow my reports.

Just remember that it was not the sportsmen or other related people that raised the fees for fishing or hunting license in NY. Seniors of age 65 and over use to pay $5.00 per year for a fishing license and now we pay $29.00 for what use to be a reduced senior license. Thats like a 600% increase for a resident senior fishing license. We had no vote or say.... it was our wondewrful Govenor. He also raised nearly every fee possible for motor vehicles, boats, trailers and also has surcharges everywhere. I may like fishing here in NY, but I can no longer afford to live here.

Fishing Eagle is right on the money... I can't understand how the blind & visually impaired are the only remaining category who qualify for a no fee fishing or HUNTING licsence, unless it has something to do with our fearless leader here in New York.

PA is $ 68 for full license, NJ is $54 for full license, NY is $70 for full license. Two dollars differant from PA and sixteen from NJ. How much time do you spend fishing in NY? if you spend two weeks that is a little more than a dollar a day more if your from NJ, its pennies a day if your from PA.

It is most unfortunate that the politicians think only of taxes and fees to improve revenue. A wise man (Winston Churchill?) once said that it was impossible for a nation to tax itself to prosperity. As evidence, our idiot, excuse me, governor and his cronies recently increased both the corporate and personal income tax rates here in Illinois. Result? Caterpillar Inc. is moving a factory back to the US from Japan soon. (Cat is headquartered in Peoria, Il). It was recently announced that that factory and it's jobs would be located somewhere other than Il. How's that for cutting off your nose to spite your face? Meanwhile, unemployment here is above the national average. This is not the only example, just the largest. Makes you wonder if the Tea Partyers are that far off base!
