    Hey I'm Don and I am currently living in Blacksburg, VA now. When i finally get a break from exams I would like to get out and do some bass/cat fishing. Are there any good places around here other than New River?

    Don't know if your fishing from a boat or on shore by there is Claytor lake just south of blacksburg and then Smith Mountain Lake, east of Roaoke both are good fishing spots.  Also if you go to VA website http://www.dgif.state.va.us/fishing/lakes/index.html  it will give you some more info - hope that helps.
