males are by the beds but they are not biting at anything, they are not protecting the beds, i've dropped lures in the beds, and they don't budge. i've used an assortment of lures, i even bumped them as i brought the lure in, nothing. i'm in southwest florida. |

IT DEPENDS HOW CLOSE YOUR FISHING TO THE BEDS AND WHAT YOUR PRESENTATION IS.IF YOU WATCH THE BASSES FINS MOVE FAST AND THE FISH LUDGES BACK AND FORTH HE SHOULD REACT TO YOUR PRESENTATION. Try it all! |

My approach at Table Rock Lake is to hit the right spot on the bed. It sounds like the fish is locked on and not skittish as it is not leaving and coming back. Look for the sweet spot. Just cover every area on the bed and you will find the spot that the fish will absolutely not tolerate anything there. Then, you have to watch it to see that it doesn’t just lip the bait, take it to the edge, and spit it out. Keep agitating it and sooner or later it will crush it. Good luck. I love sight fishing. |

I know this post was started back in March, but it is really a fairly general statement. Why fish are not biting.... what species of fish? Most posters here talked about Bass being on beds, yet that is only one species. I personally have had a great spring season catching a few different species of fish including Salmon, Trout and Perch and having some great fishing trips. Plus we have had some great fresh fish dinners too. Each season brings on a new challenge of how to fish and with what lures or bait. Fish will bit if you challenge them properly as it is their way of survival. |
