Just a reminder that most states have free fishing days that allow anyone to fish without a license. This usually happens early to mid June. It is a great time to take a nonfisherman out for a couple of hours of fishing. We should all make a point of introducing one person to fishing each year. Tom Lifer in NE Illinois |

Here in California the free fishing days are July 4 and Sept. 6 . Great logic on using July 4th I don' t feel this is a good day to incourage people to get out and go fishing, as hardly anybody wants to go fishing on a national holiday they have other celebrations on their minds , wouldn't ya think TIGHT LINES TO YA !!!! |

I have always thought that the ideal date for this would be over Father's Day weekend, but I guess that makes too much sense. Tom |

Free fishing days means you don't need a license to fish. All the other rules and regulations apply. It is the angler's responsibility to read and follow all the rules. If you are able to post here, you can access your state's Game and Fish, DNR or whatever website-seems every state has one- and look up the regs there. You can find links to all the state sites at the bottom of the BPS home page. There is a listing here, probably in Member Tips but is has slid down a ways and might be hard to find. Tom |
