What is your personal best Paul?

Mine is 15 lb / 30 " long / Girth 24"
Caught in California @ Lake Castaic
Bait:Mudpuppy

I had and still might have: A lake record-- @ 12lb on 4 lb test,Bait Green French Fry worm, Lake Eastmen CA this was the I.G.F.A.--> Fish.

I have caught over 20 double digit Hawg Bass From California, & 2 Here in Oklahoma and look'n for #3 as we speak.

I hope & pretty much know the next {Tennesse State Record}- will go to you Paul.I'll be wait'n for the story and the pictures.
Keep on Rip'n Lip my friend.

I, for one, can't wait for Craig to get his butt back here to CA so I can soak up his bass'n knowledge. It's apparent that I have little difficulty in boating 4# + bass here in CA, but that double digit momma just wants to keep eluding me. I fish Eastman often, and I know there's big ones in there. I've only fished Hensley once, didn't do well, but just figured it was the weather or something (yea, that's right, the weather Roll Eyes<!--graemlin::rolleyes:-->). I'll be watching your posts, Craig.

Keep on Rip'n Lip.Ya' All

Alright everyone time to discuss: (The Mind Set of Lunker Fish'n).
My {Hawg Bass Brother}--> Paul <-- has asked me to discuss this with ya'all.

[1] Figure on spending a lot of time not catch'n fish,Why you ask.Time for you to switch your fishing methods.
You are going to be fish'n now for nothing but HAWG's!!!
[2]Most states, have a place or several places that hold large Bass.Weather it be a lake, river, stream or creek.
Example: California-- Castaic Lake--This lake has some huge large mouth bass,Why they get so big ?,They eat 1 lb Rainbow Trout, CA DFG stocks 14-15" Rainbows in this lake in hopes that the Bass wount eat them all, before the Anglers get to catch um. Inhenses the Castaic Lure-- huge baits for huge fish! 12"-15" swim baits that weigh up to 10oz.----More on this soon--Moving on.
[3]Lure & Bait choises for Lunkers,Crawdads,Mudpuppys,Salomandors,Shinners,Blue-Gill,Crappie--Etc.
1st, Look at where you are fishing,Take these into consideration--Food forage (Natural) to the aera you fish.
Water color, structure in the water example:Rocks,Dead Timber. These all play a major roll into catching huge Bass.
2nd,Water color:The darkier the water color the darkier the bait or lure color! The clearier the water the lightier the color bait or lure.

I will be back to discuss Part 2 of {Mind set of Lunker fishing} soon Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

I caught a nice 18" on a gill. It had a girth of 14", and weighed a flat 5 lbs. It was a strong fish, and heavy!
It put a good fight on a 3 wt. fly rod.

They love gills around here! All my lunkers come on the gills ranging from 3-6"
