Late last year I talked to the youth director of the MS bass federation and he told me if I wanted to fish tournaments, to get back in touch with him in the spring of the year. Well, I emailed him the other day and he told me that he wasn't the youth director anymore. He told me to contact the pres. of the MS bass fed. I called Mr. Gordon (the pres.) and gave him my contact info, and he's forwarding it to a bass club in Laurel, MS which is the closest club to me. Soon I can fish tourneys with that club. I was browsing for information and found out that last year at the youth state championship the winner of my age group finished the day at 4 fish for 3.59 pounds. He was 14, I'm 14. The next age group is 15-18. The winner of that age group finished the day at a 5 fish limit and 9.84 pounds or something. That's a pretty good day. There's a big difference in my age group's weight and the group I'll be in next year's weight.
So.... I better make this year count.
Today at BPS I got to splurge a little and got some "Getbait" brand senkos, some Zoom super flukes, zoom lizards (4in and 6 in), a rat-l-trap inspired by jignpigs success with the lure, and a Shimano Sahara 2500FB and a BPS Bionic Blade 6'6'' M action rod.
I guess I'm ready.
What do yall think?
