well we finally did it, we finally got rid of the fishless spell. its been about 4 weeks since either of us caught a fish but not now...great evening last night.
when we got there i had a wacky worm on because they work very well at that lake. then i quickly switched to a jitterbug cuz the surface action was hot. soon we moved places to a more fishable area. i had my wacky worm back on and i actually had a fish on, but he wasnt hooked, he just was holding onto the bait. i fought him for a lttle bit when he jumped and spit the bait out. it was a little slow at first so i took some pics:
heres a sample of what im fishing here (thats why i LOVE this lake!):
then i saw a damselfly right on the button of my dads hat, so i had to get a picture of that!
soon the wind drifted us away from shore, and almost to the middle of the lake...i rigged my redshad senko texas and casted right on the lilies (a very far cast from my position). as soon as i pulled it off the lilies and let it fall, i got smashed! then i boated this lil guy (thats actually a very nice sized fish for this lake)
then the wind pushed us out a little farther to the middle of the lake. now this is interesting...i was casting as far as i could toward shore, and about halfway in on my retrieve i had a fish...this guy:
i didnt think much of it untill i caught another fish the same distance between us and the shore on the next cast...this lil guy:
i was funny cuz i just felt my line tighten up and i thought i pulled my senko thru some weeds or something, then the weight changed a little bit so i thought i had some weeds on my lure till i saw it move to the right...my dad said "you know you have a fish on right?" LOL! i didnt even notice it was on!
but what do you guys think about catching two fish in the same spot? do you think there could be a drop off there? then later after dark when we were heading in we heard HUGE fish coming all the way out of the water and landing back in with an enormous splash right about the same distance away from shore.
anyway, we decided to motor over to the opposite shoreline and do a little fishin over there. soon after we got there i had another fish on!
now this is a funny one...well my senko had just hit the water and my dad was in mid retrieve w/ his. well he hooked a fish and boated it. so i was searching around for the camera when i got a fish too!!! so then i fought that one in and he held em both while i took the pic...my fish is on the right (the bigger one of course <!--graemlin:;)-->)
a little bit longer i had another fish on. w/ this one i felt a hard tap, then i set the hook but felt nothin...i thought i lost em, but he musta been swimmin to me cuz then i started reeling in when it bolted to the right! another fish boated:
then it started getting late and i was continuing to cast to the edges of lilies and slowly retrieve it in when this short lil guy hit. this fish was very yellow in color and it had a big ole gut for its size!!!
well that was a great evening. i caught the first fish on a natural shad colored senko and all of the rest except for the last two on a red shad senko. the last two were on black w/ blue flake senkos. my dads was on a redshad. all of them were texas rigged and 4". heres somethin cool tho...i outfished my dad by alot, and i was using spray on scent the whole time, and he only used it for a little bit.
