I just caught my first bass of the season!  Whoo hoo!  Ok, it was a small largemouth, but its a fish.  Its a start.  I caught it on a blue/black  Berkley Powerlizard, texas rigged.  So, now I'm curious...  What's everyone's favorite brand of soft plastic baits?  Berkley, Strikeking, Zoom, Culprit, etc...?

On the same note, does anyone have a preferred soft plastic bait?  As in worms, lizards, tubes, craws?  Preferred color?

I love Culprit worms. In either tequila sunrise or crawdad. Sad part is they changed from tequila sunrise to tequila shad. They aint the same!!! I also used to use a Culprit called Mocassan. Cant find that one either. I also cant find one that was red with a black core.

I do have a question,,,,,please someone explain how to rig a worm or senko "wacky" style and how to fish it? I rig mine texas-style.

My best producing soft plastic this year has been Berkley powerworm in tequilla sunrise. But, my all time favorite soft plastic is the Culprit in black shad. I prefer worms over other forms of soft plastics because they mimic a wide variety of forage.

Hooking a worm "wacky" style is simply hooking it through the middle.  Nothing fancy about it.  Hook it straight through the mid-section so you hook and line run perpendicular to the worm.  It gives the worm a little different action.  The only drawback is it isn't weedless this way.

A better way to wacky rig a worm is to slide a split ring or rubber Oring onto the worm and then slide the hook under the ring without puncturing the bait. The bait will last longer and I feel that I get better hooksets this way. Tom

I'd never heard that one.  I'd read about cutting a section of a tube and sliding over the worm and hooking it through the tube to reinforce your worm.  I love the forums.  Learn something new everyday.

I'm a fan of multiple plastics, zoom, gambler, net baits, and berkley. Just depends on how I'm feelin' on that day. I use a lot of soft plastic frogs, zoom and gambler being my favorite. Nice post, good to see the diversity of fisherman. www.manvsbass.com

This place is awesome!!! Thanks for all the info on "wacky" style.  Next question is if its not weedless wouldn't you lose it when fished in cover? Where I have been fishing lately has a bunch of beaver log jams and fallen trees. I use a texas rig to get up in the thick. I know there are massive bass  there but want to throw something different at them. Any advice?

try a weedless hook on a wacky worm.  rig a weightless Texas rig,
cut the head of a finishing nail and weight the worm   buy sliding the  nail into the worm .

for a different look  on the drop try weighting the worm in the rear  it will drop back into the mess
drop shot  with a weedless hook
    jig and worm ,
