Hey folks, Im new to the forum but have been a life member for many years. Have been boating for the last 3 or 4 but just made the decision this past fall to actually DOWN grade my boat. I went from a Smokercraft Pro angler 162 with a 50hp yamaha 4 stroke to a Smokercraft 16' flatbottom jon boat with a 8hp johnson 2 stroke. The decision was made mainly due to function and actual necessity. But here is the skinny on my question, I want to know from other members what you have personally done to your jon boats to fit function and need? To me a floor and carpet is a no brainer. I also want to put in a livewell so i can still do some tournaments, a front cast deck, some compartments for storage. for those that have done this i would like some pointers and what problems i will have. Also i own both a transom mount (34lb minn kota) and bow mount (46lb motorguide) trolling motor already.

Check out tinboats.net. There are a lot of good ideas and custom mods. you can check out to get ideas. I have a G3 1436 and plan to deck the front part of mine and have gotten some plans from there.
