I live in Oklahoma..and we have one river that actually has trout all year round...that river is of course on the other side of the state! However, my friend has a private pond with HUGE Rainbow and Brown Trout. Since it is a pond, with only a small fountain in the middle, the water is mostly still and not running! The only flies that we have found that work in there, are bead head nymphs (of any sort) Well we fish it so much (even though it was stocked with 150 trout, and none have been kept yet) that they have almost completely quit biting on these flies, unless with go with such a small size, that the hooks are too small and too weak to handle these size of trout, and we can't let them run that much, because of the 4 cords holding the floating fountain in place...
I need suggestions on any fly that will work...any dry fly works...but only for an hour or so in earl early morning in right at sunset because that is the only time they will surface! What fly do y'all use for still water!!! Thanks for any tips and hints!
