The board goes through cycles on here like that....I've seen it happen 3-4 times since 2000.

Some folks start taking time to go back through some of the older discussions that have happened on here. There WAS a time when once a topic was either 3 or 6 months old that it got deleted Frowner<!--graemlin::(--> we were losing a LOT of good info that various folks had posted.

So what ended up happening was that once they stopped allowing the direct upload of pictures...the topics stopped disppearing Cool<!--graemlin::cool:-->

Another thing you can do is go over in the Member's Tips section (Page 2) and look for a topic I did called "Links and Info for Fisher-Folks". I copied and saved several good discussions we've had on here in that topic....plus there are MANY links to other fishing-related websites.

Hope you get out of your funk Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

If you want to learn how to tye flys look at all the links I have posted . If you have a question try to be as specific as you can . To get to know some of us regulars a bit better try jumping in the chat room between 7:30 and 8:30 pm c.s.t. not every one here fly fishes or ties flies. Ihapen to do both but i have alot to learn myself .I am probably one of the most active members in this part of the bb. but we do also have a few that guide so generally if you ask a question some one will answer. this particular branch of the bb only had 4 regular people on it a few years back so i am very happy with it . We actually had 5 tiers for a swap out of ten spots i thought that was good . two of them just started to tying and three of them joined because I asked them to and we all know each other though the bb so I thought it be fun to have some of there creations. Most of them just started tying a few years ago And its been allot of fun for me to see how far they've came .

I still have a box full of feathers and dubbing fur that I've collected from friends and club members for the sole purpose of giving it away to other club members. All you have to do is PM me with your address.

navyfisherman1, How about some talk...Currently I am learning how to tye feathers onto hooks. I started with crappie jiggs, on to large bucktails and am currently learning how to tye trebbles. Can you offer some insight into what makes for good patterns and for what species they work best on? This info would be helpful for me as I like to fish throughout North America.

I recently picked up some deer hair. I'm going to be trying my hand at spinning deer hair bugs when I get done with my current rod build.

I really want to target some bass next year!! If I can get some tied soon, I might be able to give 'em a shot this year Cool<!--graemlin::cool:-->

I would really like to get into fly tying, seeing as how I've been losing NF1's flies that he ties. Big Grin<!--graemlin::D--> I guess I need to break down and get the basics, like a vise, uhh, what else? Roll Eyes<!--graemlin::rolleyes:--> Oh, hooks.

the only tool you really need is a good scissor the rest just makes it easier

i would recommend a starter kit . no need in drooping over 80 bucks or more for a vice alone if you decide its not for you
. . either buy a complete kit or cabalas sell a nice starter tool kit. i recommend the one with the pedestal base . and it comes in a wooden case . has a whip finisher, and half hitch tools, a dubbing tool, a hair stacker., bodkin, needle threader scissor, forceps , hackle pliers small and large. the c clamp and pedestal base and of coarse the vice . link to tool kits i used to have the delux kit . it makes a nice travel kit . just pop it in a soft sided tackle box . they also sell a suplie kit too. other wise buy a general kit with vice instructions and materials for a few basic patterns .

then check out all the links that i have posted for patterns urls and video they are very good links with easy to follow instructions .
