I have been fishing for bass for over 5 years and it is my passion the feeling of something that big connected by nothing more than a string. So I thought how could i get the same feeling with new tackle. So I decided to pick up a fly rod and I just can't wait till this spring to try it out on some of my favorite spots so if you could help me try to figure out how to catch some of these lunkers on the fly please post your comment here. P.S I have a 6 wt. rod and a fleuger reel and i dont think it can cast any fly bigger than a size 6

With that rod you will be able to cast large streamers with no problem, and the rod will handle anything ya hook.

People used to use very large flies for bass fishing, my dad had a "Bee" pattern that was probobly 1.5" tall and some others of similar size. Biggest fish I heard of on a fly was one caught on an olive woolley bugger in Lake Morena, San Diego Co, CA. It was 13+ pounds. This wa reported in Fly Fisherman Magazine.
