Has anyone had any experience with using a dropper fly when fishing with a Bass bug or popper? I would be interested to know how this has turned out. If there was any problem with the top water fly's action or if there are particular fly's that work best for both the popper and the dropper?  I have a neiborhood lake that I would like to try for bass with a fly rod and would like to be able to check out both options at one time.

Dave Whitlock uses a what looks like a 8-12" dropper on the back of he's topwater "frogs" tied to the hook shank with a Duncan knot to a smaller fly.I'll be given this a try myself.

I use a dropper fly where ever its legal, I tie the dropper to the eye of the floating fly. My favorite is a foam bumble bee with either a Phesant tail nymph with a soft hackle or a fly I tie up I call the Pearl Helix this combo has resulted in many double hook ups.
