I have an older LFP-150 flasher type fish locator made by Lowrance. The transducer is made to clamp on to the transom of a boat. I was going to just set it in the hole on the ice and have a weight hold it there. My question is...does the transducer need to be below the ice to work properly or will it work at the top of the hole and just limit the cone size of the transducer. I am trying to find a transducer that I can modify by putting a 1/4 inch stereo phono plug on the cable to plug into my unit. I don't know if it will work or not. But I haven't found a transducer to make it work yet. If anyone has one out of an old GREEN BOX LO-K-TOR that doesn't work, maybe it will work on my unit.
