Saved - by the skin of her teeth

An ice-skater who fell through the ice and into a freezing Hungarian lake survived by holding on to edge with her teeth.

Passers-by spotted Ani Zoltany's head sticking out of the lake ten minutes after she had fallen in.

The 29-year-old woman, from Velence in central Hungary, said she had been practising on the Lake Velence when the ice cracked and she plunged into the water.

As frostbite set in her hands, the only way she could manage to keep her head above water was to hold on to the broken ice with her teeth.

She was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for hypothermia, Bilkk newspaper reported.
