know that it's a bit early for this question, but I like to do my research before making a big purchase.
I've been ice fishing for a few yrs now and have a hand auger. It gets to be a workout when the ice is over 18" thick. I've been fortunate to do most of my fishing with friends who have power augers, but I will be doing more fishing and need a auger of my own. I have a snowmobile and sled for hauling gear, so weight is not a major factor. I'm looking for something that is reliable and cost efective.
1. How powerful are electric augers? I know that there is the added weight of hauling a battery around, but the upside is ease of maintanence.
2. What is the best brand for a mid level auger?
3. How good is the used market?
4. What other things do I need to consider when selecting an auger?
