The roads are pretty slick as I predicted they would be. That's why I'm not out ice fishing today <!--graemlin::(--> But I didn't want to risk going to and from the mountains and the valley today. I will be getting out the snowshoes soon <!--graemlin::D--> It's almost time to power up the snowblower! |

We got hit with about a foot of snow on thursday but the one you're bracing for is going south of us. It's been getting down between -18 and -22F each night and todays high was-2F. It's good for making ice, even inside the shack when I'm not there. I missed a couple of days and had to chop through 6" of ice under the shack. <!--graemlin::(--> My back is hhurting again today so I'm staying home. Hope you all get out soon. |

Dr.Bubba, I know from personal expirience that very cold weather along with change in seasons and work can hurt an ache. Try a heat pack. <!--graemlin:;)--> |

On a lighter side- looks like our snow and wind has headed off to you folks out east. The plows are getting our roads cleared and it looks like I should be able to get ice fishing tomorrow right after church services. Now I just hope that crappie will cooperate, I've been getting bluegill by the tons lately but I think I forgot what a crappie looks like. Oh well could be a lot worse, at least I'm catching bluegill, and bluegill are fine table fare. |

Originally posted by: WalleyeWayne on 1/24/2005 5:29:30 AM Pappa sorry to hear about the Mrs. and I hope things get better for her & you. Up here we are buried in snow. This is the most we've had in the last 8 yrs. and we're only half way through. If you aren't ice fishing in a shack it's almost impossible because the snow is too deep to walk around in on the lake. It comes up over my knees so you have to shovel out an area to reach the ice and then sit on your pail or chairs. The wind then blows the snow over your hole so you're continually scooping slush from the hole and trying to keep your face from icing up from blowing snow. If you set your rod in a holder or use tip-ups you can't see them because of the height of the snow so it's useless. It's also been extremely cold to fish outside of the shack (-42C or -40F) last weekend <!--graemlin::eek:--> and that was without the windchill. I may still go out once or twice before March break but that's only on a snowmachine now because we can't drive on anymore. |

We're having a tropical heat wave. <!--graemlin::D--> <!--graemlin::D--> Well almost <!--graemlin::)-->. 34 degrees and they're saying 40 by this weekend. That will melt some of our ice cover, but at about 10-12 in. I think the ice will survive for a little while yet. |
