    Hi,
I have an HT Iceman Express ice shelter. It is built very nice but I don't like the folding chair as a seat. It doesn't have a place to keep a bucket stationary on the floor. so i was thinking of building a plywood platform to set across the back ot the sled and using a folding stadium chair. Wal-mart has a nice stadium chair for only $14. I just have to figure out how high and how to mount the platform to the sled without prohibiting the fold-up capabilities of the shelter.

Do any of you fellow members have modifications you have made to your shelters? any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Wayne. Now I need a permanent to complete everything. And a 4wheeler or sled.

I like the looks of it. But I am afraid of being too heavy to pull behind me with all that wood. The compartments look great and then your gear doesn't slide all over the place. I need to ponder what I want to do to mine. My sled is only 7" inches high so I would need to build up the seating. Me seating is at the back of the sled also. so I have room to build up the seat because the brackets for the poles stick up above the sled about 8 inches or so. nice ideas there ItchyNate!!

The Den is still super light. The Resort is a tub. On clear ice its pretty easy to tow, any snow over 3 or 4 inches and I go short distances, and I usually have a buddy or 2 with to help. I do have a hitch for it so when someone who has a wheeler or sled wants to pull it for me I let them. I think its only 50 pounds heavier now, but its nice to be comfortable and be organized. NOW WE JUST NEED ICE!!!!!!!!!!

Bring on the Hard-water. I'd still like to add the glide tracks on the runners. But they are $50 for a set of 4 tracks from Frabill. Too bad they don't put fold-away wheels on the side of the sled for pulling it across pavement and gravel and stuff. Then when there is snow, you can pop them up and slide over it. Sorta like training wheels.Smiler<!--graemlin::)-->

Heres a link to some hyfax runners Im buying for my Otters. I think Im going to use the white 1/2" X 1". Roughly $20 plus another $5 or so for hardware, that beats $80 from Otter for thiers.http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/pr...B6B6066917

I was trying to mid my sled yesterday. Not going to happen!!! Well I was trying to build a deck but my sled is not that big and I am not that talented at cutting wood. I might mount a folding seat to the lid of my bucket. But as far as designing something. NOT!! I loaded my sled up with all my stuff and I got it all to fit. I am just going to use milk crates and buckets to hold stuff. The only thing I would like is a rack to hold my auger during transport.

    Man all that stuff:
Loawrance DP-150 Depth finder & batteries
    Atlantis Underwater camera
    Soft cooler bag
3 Rods in carry bad from Cabela's
Little Buddy Heater & spare cylinder
Tall bucket for carrying fake vegitation
    Short bucket for catch
    Two Piece snow shovel
    Folding Chair
    Auger

    Probably more to follow.
