Anyone used one from HT? i currently have a Mora 5" auger that works okay but I get tired. |

You get tired from a 5" Mora? Either eat some wheaties or buy some new blades;-) I'm 43 years old with 3 shoulder surgeries and a 8" Mora auger. I can bore at least 10 holes in a row through 6"-10" of ice before I need to take a breather. Good blades that are adjusted properly will cut like crazy!

I dont know brother but I have the 8" mora, and i am no slouch, but I dont like it, Seems like too much work compared to the 6" strike master i am actually sitting here nursing a muscle strain in my back from this brand new auger. i can cut through like butter with no issues with the 6" strike master and if you eat weaties to use your 8" make sure you bring some T.P. out on the ice with you. cause you know what they say about fiber |

I have an 8" lazer and I drilled up to 32" of ice. That's a lot of work and time consuming. I would not do more than 10 holes in a shot. If I'm pulling my sled for some distance, then I would not do more than 5 holes. |

I have an 8" Swede-Bore hand auger we take as a back-up...and I dread having to use it. It cuts, but it does require some effort. We all know sweating in the winter is a no-no, so I usually have to pause in between hand-bombing holes so as not to sweat. If/when I use it, it's only to cut the bare minimum of holes for 2 lines per person. Power augers rule!!!

Don't blame yah! Working at getting your lines in will turn off even the most die-hard icers. If we only had to drill through 12" of ice, I would still own a power auger. The day is more enjoyable when you aren't fighting it . |

I made an adapter from half inch conduit so my 8inch mora auger works with my makita screw gun. I drill about 10 holes in about 12 inches 0f ice per charge. ROBERT ODONNELL (STEELHEADSLAYER) |

I have the 8 inch StrikeMaster. Paid $14.00 for Swedish blades. Cuts like crazy. Much better than the chinese blades it came with. Jim

Always carry back-up hatchett beats nothing if ice is only from first freeze up. This was my first year going out on the ice for trout (couldn't seem to find the bluegills -.-). Got tired of using the holes left by others so I bought myself a 6" Eskimo Barricuda with turbocut blades. Not the top-of-the-line but definitely alot easier on my wallet than the others. Definitely a great auger for a first time icer. |

What do you consider a good drill? I bought the nimrod and a brand new Ryobi 18v and hooked them up to my 8" Lazer with brand new blades and barely mad it thru 16-17" of ice. Needless to say I wasn't all that impressed. After watching the online videos and reading the good comments on it I thought that it would be the ticket to not spending 3 or 4 benjamins on a gas auger. But now I will be stuck with the nimrod and having to buy a gasser. Maybe that is why they call it a nimrod! Once you try then you feel like a total NIMROD. Just my opinion from my experience. |

Tough way to find out Mike...but that's why I've always been a proponent for gas augers! I bought a 2hp Jiffy Legend XT from Marine General in Duluth MN this past fall and when I drill, I draw a crowd . All the boys gather round to give it a try. It's fast, smooth and no vibration. Worth every penny I spent! |
