I have two and unfortunately I've never caught a fish with them so I've pretty much gave up on them. However, it's is all really that I haven't used them enough. There are other similar jigs and my catch rate for them are really low. Yet I bring them out every now and then. You just never know when that one fish that will take the lure.

Try tipping the treble with a minnow head. I was watching Mid-west-outdoors this morning and the guys were fishing upon Devils Lake and one of the guys went to the rap. He said make shure to bring your pliers cause those walleye were inhaleing them. I've even had northerns bite'em off. It's worth a shot.

Jigging raps will work, but you have to work them also. With most presentations through the ice you have to provide the action most of the time. That's why I prefer live bait. You can tail-hook a minnow and it will stay alive for a long time so you do not have to jig it much. With artificials, aside from the current moving the presentation, it's all on you to do the work.

I hadn't heard of them being used for eyes before, in my opion its too agressive of an aproach.  I've used them for pike a few times but always catch more fish with a tip up

It takes a certain touch with them. I have a friend that has that touch. I have seen him catch 17 saugeyes in an afternoon with them while I just caught a few. I like the V-b better because I can feel where I am at. The raps do work well though, just need to develope a touch for them.

The jigging rap is the #1 lure that comes out for icing Walleyes for me.It is a more aggressive style fishing lure.I tend not to add any bait or attractant as it seems to change the lures action! This lure has best action when applied to your line with a fast snap.I work this lure as follows.I drop lure to bottom then raise about 6"- 1'.Quick short snap up raising rod tip 6"-12" returning to the position you were at holding 6"- 1' off bottom.Watch lure as it will dart off to the side of hole & return to center.I will count to myself 1,2,3 & quick snap again.Depending on activity of fish or watching them on electronics can dictate how long of count you might need.Sometimes fish arent as active so you may need a longer count to possibly 10.Adding in a short nod,bob or quiver in rod at times afterward can make them commit as well.As previously mentioned this is a more aggressive approach to icing Walleyes & I use these in a run & gun method primarily looking for the most aggressive fish.If I dont get bit in 8-10 jig strokes ,I will move on to the next hole & repeat. If you find the right area you can have a bunch of fish flopping about the ice in a very short time! Hope this helps & best of luck fishing all! WHITETIP

It seems that the jigging rap has not been producing for me this year. In addition I haven't found much aggressive fish so far this season either.
