Haven't been on here for a LONG time. Just thought I'd check in. Anyone doing any good ice fishing so far. Haven't been doing too well in Wisconsin. Going out this weekend--Maybe I'll do some good. "If at first you don't succeed, re-bait your hook." |

Ice fishing was good here until the cold snap hit us a couple of weeks ago. Big walleyes were being caught in great numbers but it was tough getting them in the slot size. Would you rather get a couple of big ones - or get a good feed? We like to eat |

Nothing here for me yet. Still deer hunting and Saturday is the last day, then I'll start hitting the ice next week.

Today was a hot day bite for me...just had to call it quits early to refill the propane tank and get some more bait. The new chubby darter holographic red perch #4 was the lure of choice today. |

Sounds like the lakes are producing, eh? We just over a 2-week deep freeze that has left us with at least 18" of ice and walleyes with lockjaw on most days. Hopefully this mild spell will make them active again.

The bite has been good here in NW pa. Got about 5 to 6 inches of good ice. Caught 150 jumbo bluegill in 2 weakends and 67 crappie in the 10 to 12 inch size this weakend. Only caught a few jumbo perch so far but the gills & crappie make up for it. FISH ON LIFE MEMBER SINCE 02-98 |

I got a chance to get out with my wife yesterday morning and again this morning. The bluegills and perch were biting ok on a small lake in SE Wisconsin, Walworth county. A buddy and myself will be headed to Devils Lake, North Dakota and will be fishing there Friday through Monday morning. We're hoping for some big perch, walleye and northern pike. This will be our fifth year going, and every year has been decent, but not great. Hopefully this will be the great year.

I was back out on the ice this weekend and caught 74 crappies in two days. WE have good ice of 8 inches but with the temps in the 30 to 35 range and suppose to stay there this week I hope it dosn't hurt the ice too bad. FISH ON LIFE MEMBER SINCE 02-98 |

I've been doing mostly daytime ice fishing and it's been decent. Early morning and late evenings hasn't produced as well as I expected. |

Tailing off around here also Bob. December and 2/3 of January the action was steady but it's slowed up since. The walleyes usually do that around here from February until the end of March when they go on the rampage just before spring thaw.

Our walleye ice season closes at the end of Feb...if I don't catch one...I'll have to go to where the lakes are stocked full of walleyes. |
