Don't mean to be a pain but I'm really interested in ice fishing since I saw it done on the outdoor channel.  I'm not sure how to do it correctly.  I don't really have any equipment and the only fish that I could ice fish for would be bass, which I don't think is possible, and sunnies.  Since sunnies resemble crappies they would be possible to ice fish for correct?  Any advice would help greatly.  Thanks

traseley given that you're new to ice fishing I suggest you read the many topics already posted in this section. In specific there is a topic about ice fishing for crappies that will give you a start. After you've read what has already been written, come back and begin asking more specific questions directly related to how to approach ice fishing in your area. You will probably get better and more specific responses that way

I was new to ice fishing last year, what I did was to hook-up with area fishermen who ice fish, wow they taught me alot, we caught bass, crappie and bluegills. They can teach alot and not know it, so buy, borrow the right equipment and start catching. I'm hooked for life on ice, friends might think your crazy until they eat your catch

Same here man! First year out on the ice and I'm already looking forward to the next ice season (ice is off here now). I just got a reliable fishing buddy who was willing to try ice fishing, and started talking to the guys already out on the ice. Good luck with those sunnies though. I think here in E WV they just don't bite in cold weather.

i've been ice fishing all my life and love it. you can catch anything in the winter that you can get in the open water, just have to learn the fish's winter habits just like you do during the open water.

Sure is nice to see that there are still a lot of hard water fishermen left.

There's just something to sitting on one spot and pulling up fish after fish out of a hole in the ice.
