I'm in the market for two new reels to use in brackish rivers (rivers that are influnced by the tide) here in southwest Florida, a spinning reel and a bait caster, both in the low to medium weight class. What would your choices be, and why?

higher price spinning reels go with the okuma v-system 30 aqnd 45 seriesreels. absurd number of bal;l bearings gives it an awesome casting ability and drag setup. throw the handle and the reel jsut keeps spinning. lower price class look at the okuma alumina 40 and 30 series.theyre tough andf light good drag sytem as well another good one is the penn sargus 4000 and 3000 series. a little heavy but rugged and durable. baitcasters go with a daiwa millionaire, okuma isis and an ambassador. another great one that i own is a tica caiman. the millionaire is the cheapest and the tica is the most expensive. all of these are great good sytems on them form drag t casting. they are also all basic baitcasters. no low profiles here.

RustyHook, I am also in SW FL (Cape Coral).  for spinning reels I use the following:  Quantum Cabo size 40, Okuma V-System size 30,55 and 80,         for baitcasters I use Quantum Cabo CBC20, Quantum Energy PTS, Penn Sargus, Abu Revo Inshore.

I have used Pflueger medalist, Shimano stradic and Penn spinfisher, they lasted a few years, then I upgraded to the ones above.

As far as baitcasters, I upgraded from Pflueger contender ss and calcutta.

If you want to shoot me an email, I have some new and used rods and reels that I have been selling, spinning, casting and offshore.

    Maybe even wet a line.

    Rick.

fishwood3@yahoo.com    just put NAFC in subject, as I don't open emails if I don't recognize them.
