My family is looking at vacationing in FL. I would like to try some snook or redfish fishing while down there. We're not sure where to go. Can anyone recommend a nice family place? That way they can go to the beach yet I can go fishing too! Thanks.

Im not sure about South Fla but in the panhandle we are restricted to 1 redfish between between 18 and 27 inches, also the season is closed for sea trout for Feb. and its cold up here. I would suggest going as far south in Fla as you can.

The Crystal River - Homosassa area offers some of the best In-Shore Saltwater Fishing in Florida. Speckled Trout, Redfish, Mackerel, Grouper, Sheephead, and Sharks are some of the favorite sport fishing species around here. Some of the local hotels are right on or near the Gulf, and you can take a look at www.nittanysealion.com for one of the local guides in this area that can make your vacation a real memory.

I am with Captain Larry. Homosassa has amazing snook and redfish. Lots of great fishing, relaxed atmosphere, and really knowledgable local captains.
Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll be divorced for sure.

The Tampa Bay Area is a GREAT place to fish and hang out at the beach! We have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world not to mention some of the best fishing to go with it.

Fishing over in the East Central area is good. ICW and beaches are close together. Palm Coast/ St Augustine South is good.

Check out this site, it should help with any questions. http://www.floridainsiderfishingreport.com/ I prefer anywhere on the Gulf Coast you can find grass flats and a good bait shop that has large shrimp, from Mexico to the Keys.

If you want to Snook fish, and catch some good Redfish you can try NW Fl. Fort Desoto, close to Tampa. Anclote keys area, Howard Park, Tarpon Springs, all close to Tampa.,Mid East Fl West Palm beach, Jupiter has some great snook fishing. Try the inlet(Jupiter) if you're going to stay on the East Coast.SE Fl. Biscayne Bay, Flamingo, Any of the Keys produce good fishing, bridges etc.NE Fl, Jacksonville has good fishing, Trout, redfish, Flounder, Stripers, and even Snook have moved that far north. South west coast. Punta Gorda, Nokomis, Sarasota, etc, all have good fishing from shore. Good Luck.

Try Sarasota. I've been there a few times now and My wife and daughter love Siesta Key Beach. Sand is like walking on corn starch. I was just down in Feb., and fished with Capt. Charlie of Sarasota Fishing Charters. Had a blast. Pics are up in the fishing report section of His website. fishinsarasota.com I would recomend Him to anyone.
