if its salt water your fishing in you wont get much perch. they are fresh/brackish hanging in ponds, lakes, streams end estuary water. but if you want sharks and can't go offshore. i mite be able to help you succeed in your adventure. i suggest 7'-8' rod medium heavy action rod a good reel (id prefer a conventional reel) 40-50lb test braided line
3-4 oz. bank sinker if rocky bottom pyramid sinker if sandy with a 17" wire leader with a 9.0 hook. fresh bait chunk. (whatever is indigenous to the area) go from dusk till dawn. most sharks are nocturnal feeders. try to get the bait out as far from shore as you can.cast against the current to leave a good sent trail. if a shark hits it it will be a few quick tugs then it will start to take line. if you hook it it will feel like a person trying to swim away. then if the fight last 10 min she shark will just get tired and you can muscle him in. not much of a good fighting fish. but heavy and fun. don't go alone. always have a buddy with you when night fishing.just joined and your post caught my eye. im a new member but have been salty fishing for 23 years. be safe. have some FUNZ. and some FISHZ!
