I heard a rumor some small bass are active and being caught between Atlantic City and Wildwood in back bay waters where water temps have climbed to over 50 degrees under ideal conditions (or artificial conditions, such as a power plant steam pipe warming the water). Anybody caught anything yet? I've been around Ocean City, NJ, and seen boats and anglers on the shore, heard stories, but haven't seen a fish yet. Northeast saltwater pros: I need your advice. I am a rookie, but passionate and impatient to get the line wet. Thanks!

A little info, went fishing in Seaside Heights Sunday,May2 on casino fishing pier. Caught 4 blues and alot scates and dogfish (TRASH FISH). Blues were about 24in.,good eating size. I fish pier quite often, water should be warming up soon for the big stripers to start running, they are being caught now but just here and there. Not sure how site works, new member. Look forward to talking. Later jim (site name teqjim)

just a little rebuttal to jim...

Skates are NOT trash fish... if you cut off the wings, and skin them, you can cook them as you would normally cook your fish.

Also, if you have a round punch style cutter, like that used for cookies, you can punch the wings (after skinning) and make "Poor Man's Scallops" as they taste nearly the same.

Otherwise, enjoy the wind and water....
