Find out what the owners are feeding the catfish in that pond and use that.

Otherwise small bluegills or other panfish make great bait, if legal in your area. You can use them cut-up or live for either species. The fresher the better though when it comes to cut bait. Lately I've been catching a lot of channel cats and a few flatheads on fathead minnows while walleye fishing.

I like to fish large pay ponds in the summer for catfish.I catch lots of small channel cats fishing theses ponds and keep a few.I thought about gettin in catfish tournaments that these ponds offer, but don,t know how to catch the big ones.I know big flat head catfish like live bait and the blues like cut bait.My question is what type of live and cut bait should i use and how do i rig them.

    Any help would be appreciated

Try using top water Something like a Smithwick devil horse. It is a dual prop bait. The most popular color is perch, but I like the chrome black color.

You can also use roostertails chartruse/orange or white silver, unless it is murky then don't use the white silver instead try black/gold.

Beetle spins or jigs. I like yellow 3" twin tail mister twister on a 1/4 or 3/8 oz yellow or black jig head.
