Great tips Mike Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

Most if not all of you know that from time to time a lure company will discontinue a lure.

Here's a few that were dropped in the late 80's or early 90's.

And here's a Fred Arbogast pocket catalog from the 1980's

That,s a great job showing discontinued lures. There are alot of discontinued lures that are very collectable from the 70,s 80,s @ 90,s for that matter.That,s a great collection of different companies and there lures. Looks like you have a nice Heddon Crackleback model 8000 in 3 7/8" or a model 8050 in 4 1/2" if I,m seeing it right in great shape. I have a friend and thats all he collects is crackleback fishing lures and has a nice collection.

Thanks Mike Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

That Crackleback hasn't seen water...found it in a little mom-n-pop store...I had never seen one before, so I got it Eeker<!--graemlin::eek:-->

I found out about a year after that it had been discontinued Frowner<!--graemlin::(-->

The Bomber Waterdogs made great deep trolling baits...even for catfish.

The Hi-Catch Fingerlings in the upper left corner of the top pic are still made...but now sold by Luhr Jensen Fingerling at Luhr Jensen

Yes, I would keep the crackleback out of the water to. It,s a fine lure and cracklebacks are hard to find. The waterdogs by Bomber were nice lures to fish and I have caught alot of fish on them in my time. I have about 20 in different sizes and colors. They came in the #1500 series at 2 1/8", the #1600 at 3", and #1700 series at 4". I fish them all the time.
Look out for the ones they made in the 1960,s because they were lipless and had spinners fwd. and aft. of the lure. Whopper-Stopper Inc. of Sherman Texas made the Hellbender fishing lure and looks pretty much the same as the waterdogs made by Bomber.

I have some of those Hellbenders somewhere Eeker<!--graemlin::eek:--> Big Grin<!--graemlin::D--> I'll see if I can find them and post pics Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

I can't recall ever seeing Waterdogs with spinners on the front Confused<!--graemlin::confused:-->

Didn't Heddon make a lure along these lines back then?

A good majority of my stuff was bought about 1986...after a tackle box of mine was stolen from under the house out here in Calif...a day or 2 after me and a lady friend went fishing with another couple Frowner<!--graemlin::(-->

So I ordered several company's lure catalogs, bought a 10 tray box (similar to the one I posted about in the Tackle Box topic in Boats Motors Etc...) and started to fill 'er up Eeker<!--graemlin::eek:--> Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

Didn't take me long Big Grin<!--graemlin::D-->

Here about 3 years ago I raided Bass Pro for about $350 worth of newer stuff...and decided to pull this stuff out of the box to make room.

Would make a nice wall display at this point Red Face<!--graemlin::o--> Smiler<!--graemlin::)-->

Dave: They made Waterdogs with spinners on the front and rear in 1954 but were made of wood and continued in plastic for only a few years. But they are very rare and I had two and sold one for $175.00 with the box. I need to do a little research about Heddon making a lure the same shape as the waterdog.
Jenson Sporting Goods of Austin Texas made a lure called the "Jenny Liz" and except for the shape of the dive plane the lure is anawful lot like Wopper,s Stopper,s Hellbender right down to the little flashers at the tail.You got a nice collection going just keep it up. Heddon Lures are becomming very pricey at this time and will continue to climb in price. But what a great hobby!!!!!!!!!

This is a better bass oreno made between 1934 -1942 . It is different because of the aluminum hook hangers.

I collect mostly the old stuff that was made of wood. Heddon, South Bend, Pfluefer globe lures, Creek Chub Bait Co. Most of thoes lures will have cup hardware, made of wood and will have glass eyes.I really like the Creek Chub Pikies that look like a small pikie. I,m getting ready to go now and thanks.

Didn,T find to much at the yard sales but came home with 30 lures. Did find one Creek Chub Pikie with the double line tie and glass eyes in EX+ condition. Got a couple old Hot-N-Tots,Jitterbugs,and a few Heddon Tadpollys and Zara,s made by Pradco. Found a old Wards fly rod in 8' length. But it was fun.
