I've always thought that Japanese lures like Lucky Crafts were over priced until I saw a demo of one at a fishing expo not too long ago. The guy was using a Lucky Craft Staysee and the action was incredible. It dives down to about 8 feet and suspends when you pause. It looked really good. I don't know if it's worth twice as much as my Rapalas but I'm going to give one a try. NAFC Life Member since 03/2000 |

A word of caution.....when Castaic lures first came out, I purchased several ($$$).....however, I found myself reluctant to throw them in "ugly" cover for fear of losing one. Results.....fewer bites. I finally decided "what the hay"and put them where they needed to be worked! Lost a few lures, but caught more and bigger fish. Point is, if you pay $15 for a lure, you must be willing to lose $15. Good Luck! |

I fish alot of Lucky Craft. Particularly the Sammy, Live Pointer, and Bevy Shad. They have some of the most realistic action out of all the baits out there. The Sammy far surpasses any topwater I've ever fished in that style. They are expensive and there are times I'm hesitant to throw them, but they consistently put fish in the boat for me. I'm not saying to go out and fill your box with them, but at the very least pick up 1 or 2 in your favorite style bait and see how you like them. When I was first introduced to them a few years back I couldn't imagine paying that much for a bait. I finally broke down and decided to try one and I'm glad I did. Thank God my father taught me to fish!!! ~BDFC~NAFC~B.A.S.S.~ |

Since the steady rise of the price of Rapalas and my ill luck on some of them breaking apart here and there. I think I'll try some Lucky Craft lures... |

It's all I use for crankbaits and many other baits. I give them away free at times at my site. |

Spent just over $100 for five Live Pointers over the course of a season. Caught mulitpule huge pike and a ton of mid sized ones. Worth it ? Well all five lures got destroyed by the pike a couple still hang on the den wall with pictures of the biggest pike. So yes and no. If you hate losing lures or your income won't allow it go with a cheaper lure. If your going to target trophy fish buy a couple and see if they improve your catch in your waters. |

Most people I know don't use them for Pike so that isn't a problem. Bob, I have a lure package all made up for you which will be sent soon. |

Lucky Craft for Pike fishing. Wow...Still it's pretty much on par on cost like those expensive Musky type lures. Those can take a beating, but sometimes even they get chewed up. |

Sadly the Lucky Craft worked best for the pike, the Rapalas I have just didn't catch them on this fishery. Probably because these pike see a LOT of Rapalas. I've trying to find another lure that works as well. The best replacement so far has been a 4 inch soft plastic swimbait marketed under the Gander Mountain name. At $4 out the door for a pack of 24, seems to be a decent trade off. |

Don't get to fish for the Great Northern Pike--its always been one of my dreams. I do fish mostly for trophy size large mouth bass and I've been a Rapala fan for a long time--they are hard to beat. Since I have 10 acre pond in my back yard full of big bass, it is like my own testing tank. I have found the Bomber Model Long A--have modified some of their larger salt water lures by changing those big bulky hooks. Usually put a red hook behind the gill plate to make it look like blood, also spray a little red paint around the gill plates to make it look injured--helps in local rivers to spry florescent orange on the belly. If you are worried about price & losing them you might try a Rebel artificial minnow. Good luck with the pike. Uncle Tom

| I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |

I like the Rebel Minnows at times as well. I'll use a Salmo over a Rapala. The Salmo almost always casts better and dives better and holds a better wiggle action. The Salmo do not have the nice color patterns that some Rapala's come with. I'm thinking Koppers lures for pikes. I like their realistic fish patterns. Maybe one of those giant Sebile Magic Swimmer. Saw the price on those $35 and over. |

Right beside my Rapalas are my Rebel minnows (jointed, spoonbill, jointed spoonbill and regular). I am currently experimenting with Cordel spoonbills...All for pike! BTW, the Rapala DT16s are a great pike bait also! |
