My favorite discontinued lure is the Salmo Hornet SDR Floating. About the time I started catchin walleye on this lure Salmo pulled the plug on this lure. The back story is that the Salmo rep that told me this neglected to mention that he had pretty well cornered the market on this lure! Salmo suggested contacting him and he denied having any of these lures, and flat out told me they didn't work very well! So much for integrity. Tom ! Fishin' fool in NE Illinois |

There are a few of the old baits that I wish I could still get. The Rebel Suspend-R. The Slither worm by Mr Twister 4 and 6 inch, there was a later version called a Mr Means. These were 3 and 5 inch I beleave. These baits were hot for Smallmouth and Walleye. |

Hi All--Just a little information I picked up at the tackle store yesterday! I don't know how true it is as i haven't seen it in black and white. But the source is very knowledgeable and trustworthy> The other day we were discussing "phoebe" lures by Acme. I was told that Acme has filed for Chapt.11 bankruptcy. That means Kastmasters, crockadiles and all the rest may be no more!! Unless someone buys them out and continues the line> Hope it's not true cause they are great lures!--------

If that is going to happen....you'd think they'd be polite enough to warn folks on their website www.acmetackle.com Life Member David BB Linkmeister

It's not an old lure, but I can't find it any where any more. It's the Berkeley Frenzy crankbaits. I've caught lots of fish on these. |

The Rapala countdown in the flourescent orange was an excellent lure for rainbow trout, sea run cutthroat, and steelhead. It was discontinued when I first found them, but they are excellent, and Rapala makes simalar lures. |

Rapala Shad Rap #7 in the original chartreuse pattern. It was chartreuse on top and faded to an off white on the bottom with no red or other colors. Both deep and shallow divers. Rapala discontinued this pattern, then brought it back but with some red on it. The original worked much better. I have caught many walleye, bass, northern pike, perch and even a few muskies on that lure. Be Fishers of Men,

Rapala doesn't seem to make there things like they used to. I have a couple of Rapalas that are about 4 years old and they are different than the ones made today. The bills aren't very durable on today's models. And as stated, many good colors are altered. |

I am saddened to hear that Rappala has fallen into the trap and started cheapening up on their lures. I haven't purchased any Rappala lures in a while, I really stocked up a few years ago and haven't bought any since. I'm thinking I got lucky. Tom Fishin' fool in N.E. Illinois |

Tom. As of now I only buy Rapalas when they are 50% off or more ( which only occurs once a year). Alot of companies these days have made changes for the worst. |

I used to have incredible success with a bait from Bagleys, but I can't remember the name anymore. It was banana shaped like a lazy ike and had a great wide wobble that I could fish slow and shallow.
Anyone remember the bait (and the name)? |
