After I finished tying up some streamers, I decided to tie some peanut flies. These are usually trolled behind a flasher... I have made two light colored ones before, but the other three are new and will have to be field tested! LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif from S.E. Pa. |

Those are great. Do you have a pic of the entire lure put together? I'm trying to get a visual. My imagination isn't what it used to be. Lol. Lifer! Fred NKy |

A leader is tied to the fly ( length is determined by the length of the flasher...2.5 x the length of the flasher) and then to your main line. Some use this with a down rigger and some use lead core and still others use other methods to get the rig down... LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif from S.E. Pa. |

Nice looking peanuts, Turnip. What do you use them for? I fish them April-June for Coho and steelhead on SW Lk. Mich. Around here, we use a lot of green, blue&green and aqua. This is our when in doubt spread, we put out a few of each color and move them up and down in the column until a pattern shows up. I'll post a picture of a flasher/fly combo for Bassbum. Don't have any peanuts or dodgers at home, but a flasher and fly should give him a good visual.

Tried to attatch a picture of a flasher/fly combo but couldn't get the file small enough. BTW, tried out the rod I recieved from the Club as a membership gift. Nice rod, casts very well. Actually caught 3 fish, 2 Largemouth and 1 Gill. Water here is still in the 40's and I am grateful for any kind of bite.

This is an example of how Ed uses them...You can use the fly with or without the peanut. LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif

Looks like a Peanut fly in Pa.is not the same as a peanut in Il. A peanut fly in my water is nothing more (or less) than a short (2") Howie fly If you guys out East have got something different working, it would be kind of you to share it, a PM would be nice! Tight lines to all.

Tom, if I am understanding this correctly, these peanuts are coming from lake Michigan folks! In this case ole pie face has tied on one of my flies below it... Ed ties the leader to the fly, slides on a bead and then slides on the peanut, finishes off the end with a loop, which is hooked to a snap swivel on the flasher. I think that the length of the leader is 2 1/2 times the length of the flasher...I don't know what else to tell ya!
