    My dad has alot of good old lures that got alittle rusty how would I clean these up??There not real bad but i'd like to clean them up before I put them in my tacklebox.

    Thanks Guys,He has alot of big spoons for Pike and Musky that he just gave me and I just wanted to clean them up,They got some gunk from some old soft plastics that melted or something on them.

    Put them through a rinse cycle(JUST RINSE CYCLE) in the Dishwasher.

    I've heard that Goop will remove that stuff....although I haven't tried it yet.

    WD-40 took the soft bait remains right off and the tooth paste cleaned up the rest of the grime..Suprisingly after more then 20yrs. the Hooks aren't rusty and as for the spit rings they are made of brass.Some of the paint is wore off this one but there all in good shape.     Try a bottle of spray on "GOO GONE" this stuff helped me save a box of old spinner baits that had melted on skirts and old curly tails on stinger hooks, it really works for that but you will still need brasso for the rust portion.

    Gotta agree with turnip on this one...tooth paste cleans up old lures great...and its not abrasive enough to hurt the finish. 
    Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!
