Whenever I am experimenting, gathering ideas or just building up the nerve to tie a new style streamer, I will often resort to tying a few jigs...

Sometime in early July I will tie a new pattern streamer (for me).  Hopefully I will do a good enough job to put it in the fly swap this winter...

You can tie streamers on jig heads have you thought off using colored glitter or frosted fingernail polish for the thread wraps .
dont be afraid to run colored permanent markers over the body browns and blacks are amongst my faves .

Rod Tosser and Turnip,
Let me know when you receive items in the (snail) mail. We are heading out this month to try out both jigs and flies. Will send news and photos of our trips.

Good luck . It was my pleasure sending you the flies .
The ones in the  plastic box where tied  buy me, the rest were from when Steve Casteel bought out a tackle shop .

No, thank you to you both. Ethan has such a big heart, he wanted to pass on the deer tail. You guys stepped up though you didn't need the tail. Again I thank you. Rod, You are going to have to explain the humming bird again. I have tried finding a case for it, but I get a funny look from the people at Michael's

purchase a 4 " clear glass bulb  comes in a 4 pack  I  got them at Micheal's [ craft glass] item number 377446
May be a seasonal item .
slide bird in head first  then  thread string through  center of cap adjust length and tie off to wire.
 see example bellow

I would have sent it in the bulb  but sometimes  they try to escape buy pecking a hole in the glass .
no need to hang from Christmas tree only .  Mom's got hers  hangin in the kitchen window .

Yesterday I decided to re-tie some of my salt water jigs...

I still have several more to do but I'll wait for a rainy day!

Earlier this year my wife asked me to make some jigs with the feathers on them for the church bazaar.  So, this spring I painted and tied some up (about a 100 of the rascals).  Today I managed to finish them up   ...

All the jigs will be donated to the church fellowship group...I didn't think I would ever get done!

I've got two orange and brown painted jig heads...just gonna have to get some feathers. Maybe I'll look into getting some pheasant feathers. I kind of like their pattern.

A couple of weeks ago, at the Finger Lakes Meet, Susan (Ishouldbefishin) gave me some feathers from her chickens.  I must say that these birds are show birds (IMHO)!  So I tied up some jigs for her and her daughter...

These are 1/16 oz jigs that I painted and tied.  Hopefully Susan & Celeste will remember me when they hook ito a fish with one of these puppies!

Those jigs are so cool!!! We will tease the crappie with those for sure! Might even get some big bluegills or trout! I love them, thanks!!!
I used to get to fish a whole lot more than as of late. But I still love it and long to become the hopeless addict that I once was able to be.

I am bringing this back up so that others can add to it. I still need to do a "how to" topic for this!

I tie my own jigs and flies and am going to start selling them to local tackle shops. I don't have any pictures though.
