Georgia's ocean area does not provide the natural area for reefs that many other coastal areas do. Grays Reef is one of Georgia's few natural reefs. Because of this, the DNR, along with help from recreational fishermen, have a artificial reef program in effect that consist of concrete reef ball, old barges, tugs, even WWII tanks, etc. The following is a streaming video provided by GPBS about our reefs and the wonderful fishing opportunities they provide. If you fish any saltwater, you want to watch this video. It also gives you the opportunity to see what the structure you fish really looks like and what marine life is there in addition to what you're fishing for.
