Ok  bro's , I am wanting to get into pan fishing.  I used to fish for Bull gills , shell crackers and what not , but I'd like to get into white bass , perch and crappie. i fish from the bank ( no boat ) and I already have a 5' berkley ultra lite rod with a Zebco 11 underspin reel.  I'd like to upgrade and I need some guidence in which way to go.

    Thanks in advance.

I love my berkley cherrywood rods and Okuma reels.

I mostlly use 1/16oz minnow style jig heads with 2" rib grubs for my all round panfishing. In also like the tube insert 1/16 or 1/32 oz jig heads and 1.5" tubejigs, they work awesome under a bobber. You can even spice it up with a little berkley earthworm powerbait or real night crawler piece.

For line I normally use 6# Trilene or silver thread.

I love my cherry wood rods also , as a matter of fact I have two 9' , two 7' and I am looking for a nice lite action 6' or 7' one if there is such a beast.

I,ve got a 7' Zebco slabseeker rod with a Gander guide series reel and a 5' Daiwa Dforce combo. Both have 6# xt because of the rocks, weeds, and branches where I mostly fish both work well and are good fun.

I have a Quantum light action rod that absolutely rocks.  I use it to fish trout and perch, and I have to admit, that rod is stout (damn near unbreakable).  I would recommend that rod to anyone looking for something light action.

I don't feel that berkeleys cherrywood rods are  good, they snap very easily, and are not sensitive. Quantum rods are better.

Glow in the dark ice jigs tipped with small plastics. white seems to work best here,(Kansas), but you will need to experiment. Use a small slip bobber to help getting the lure to suspend.
