I live in Moses Lake Wa, which is a little desert town out in the middle of the columbia basin. it never gets cold enough to make strong ice, so i can't icefish.

I just wanted to know if you can catch pans on a fly rod this late in the year.

And if you can, Where should i  fish? and what types of flies should i use? and finally, can you catch slabs on poppers after the turnover?

    thanks.

yes ya can get pannies with a fly rod this time of the year. i have gotten them on flys all year round, even throu the ice. i would use nymph type fly's this time of the year thou. black or brown probly be best choice. but, always try something subsurface and try different colors, ya just don't know what is going to work. about the poppers i haven't tried so i cann't say for sure. but i would have to lean towards must likly not.

now where to get these pannies this time of the year. i would start by looking for healthy weeds near shore. check any cannels or channels on the edge of the lake. around here these are the first places to freeze safe ice and we can load up on the gills and crappies for about a week or 2. i'll bet one could do really well right now in them cannels if we weren't hunting so much.....lol.

hope this helps ya get started and good luck fishin this winter.
