Got out today for the first time this season. Here in the Chicago suburbs, we have had ice on and off (more on than off) for the past week or so. Today was about 60* and the ice was gone. Hooked up with another club member and spent a few hours fishing my local pond. Landed and released a crappie of about 8", was suprised. Knowing this pond, I would not have expected a crappie at this time of year, more likely a small bass would have been my bet. Just goes to show you that no matter how well you know a body of water, the fish will always be unpredictable. I swear they are worse than women!
