I generally just fish for largemouth, so i do land the occasional crappie.  this is a healthy looking crappie i caught on a small spinner.

I could be wrong because of the picture quality, but I'm pretty certain it's a white crappie.

Most certainly a white crappie.  The whites have a silvery side where as the black crappie have a significant amount of black on the back.

Nice Crappie. I caught an incidental today while fishing for LM on my local pond. Not anywhere near that size though. Where I live crappie are a tough catch anyplace but the Fox Chain, I fish for crappie, catch a northern, fish for bass, catch a crappie. Who cares, if it pulls on the end of the line, it's fun. Tom

My crappie fishing was messed up due to river flooding here. I had one good trip, caught 27 in same tree top. So, I commercial fished with my cousin. We tore the flatheads up. Get back to pics, nice crappie ya'll have there. Congrats.

I have seen many light crappie that were either black or hybrid. I have also seen an albino black crappie. Any crappie over 9" should be promptly released-into hot cooking oil! Tom
