I need some info about panfish.My question is what are panfish.

Panfish is a general category including perch, bluegill, sunfish, crappie and others in that size range. Some people also will include rock and yellow bass in this category. Be careful, some states have a legal definition of a panfish and that can be enforced. It is always best to be familliar with the regulations of the state you are fishing in, as well as any local regulations, in Il we call them Site Specific. Tom

yer right tom on all of that.....but believe it or not bass are also in the panfish family.

I'm thinking it may include trout as well. Maybe its any kind of fish you can get into the pan qualifies. works for me lol.

Black Bass (largemouth, smallmouth and spotted) are members of the sunfish family that includes sunfish, 'gills and crappie. That said, here in Illinois Black bass are legally considered gamefish as are trout. This can be important as here we can use panfish as bait but using game fish will result in at the least a hefty fine. Tom
