    Nothing like a big fat nightcrawler (of course cut in half) in the face to get those big bad Gills going.

     

    Now generally the Gill are shallow in fall, not deep like in summer. So with that being said, try locating them shallow then go deep. I'm not sure if your body of water is clear, but they should be up in some shallow weeds.

    yep, most of the time they are after something big and meaty. but when the time comes when they want to be finicky, ice jig with a wax worm.

    I have had some very nice 'gills take a small fathead, emphasis on the small. Usually in the fall in shallow weeds. Tom

    been there too. late fall has worked with small minnows, so does early spring.
    but i have always wonder way small leaches or small crawdads don't work at this time of year

    mr.bill: I have had luck with pieces of frozen softshell (a popular perch bait around here) in the fall. I have a hard time with panfish on worms in the fall no matter what size worm I use. Tom
