There is a well-known pattern when trolling for these beasts that I /several of us have known about for years.
It's common for trollers to put a bait in the prop wash 10-30 ft behind the boat and catch fish.
But something I saw earlier this evening makes me wonder a little bit.
Petroleum (like WD-40) masks human scent...and at the same time, many older motors leak etc...a little bit of the stuff... <!--graemlin::eek:-->
So MAYBE the question is not so much of them looking in the prop wash for injured baitfish (does make sense though)...but more of a question that the bait doesn't have the "human scent" to it anymore.
