Last Thursday I caught my first ever pickerel. I grew up in South Dakota, so I've caught numerous pike, some good sized ones, and enjoy the fight they put up especially through the ice. It was my only fish of the day, but it was a fun battle. I measured the fish to be 23" right before I released it. I was fishing out in deep water near the middle of the lake, dragging a power tube and jig across the bottom slowly. A good way to start the season my first time out.
