for pike, any bait that you would use for bass. so there is no wrong bait, for pike, as long as it is bigger than the bass bait ya use. any spinner will work, in-line or overhead. crank baits, rapala's is my favorite, such as husky jerks, shad raps and the bang-o or big a lures work great to. for live bait a big shinner on a circle hook works really good, so does a medium size sucker, 6-10 inches long.

My favorite lure for pike is the 2/5 oz-3/4oz Little Cleo on a wire leader tipped with a 3" chartreuse grub. Good Luck!

8" perch on a quick strike rig. Forget the circle hook they have to long of snout and there going to swallow it. If they swallow it they're gut hooked and they are going to die. Quick strike they are hooked in the mouth and you can release them. I have never had one swallow the hook on that rig. Put the perch on a float  about 4' down then fish another rod with your favorite lure and see which catches more fish.

Interesting... I've actually seen large Musky Size Sucker minnows that are 18" at a bait shop. Kind of random, but the last time i was fishing, i noticed them at a bait shop where i went to get worms and minnows to go walleye and crappie fishing. Now i know muskies are HUGE, but what if a little  northern pike tries to eat it and kills  it. Then you've got a little problem.

Excluding live bait rigs.....Williams Wobblers have out fished everything else we have used. We've fished NW Ontario for the past 8 years and no other lure compares. The 2-tone(Gold/Silver) 4 1/2" is one of the best anytime, on sunny days the Silver/Blue works well, and when you need to hit the ridges and get down a little deeper the Williams 'Bully' is fantastic. We'll still use some Johnson Silver for weedless fishing, and the newer large softbaits by STORM have been working very well this year as well.

Definately a good choice psg. I need to buy somemore of them. I only have one I should have an assortement in my tackle bag. Have you tried a mepps comet minnow. That blade spinning with that plastic minnow is deadly. I can't wait to see your pic's.

I agree with Ray. I was fishing for Walleye at the Petenwell Dam on the Wisconsin River today (18 FEB 2009). It was snowing, wind was starting to blow, temps were dropping fast. Had a Wildeye Live Goby 02 Natural on. Hooked a 30 plus Muskie. Had beautiful color, shouldn't have tried to horse it in. Wasn't hooked well and pulled off.

Well, I've asked for specific color combos, have fished with many of these same folks and have decided this will be my HOT pike bait for the year...

I don't actually know what is the hotest lure for pike, but I am hoping this one is!  It has all the right colors (except for pink & black)!

Try adding a stripe or dot(s) with a marker, adds a lot to the visual effect of a solid blade.
